Pockets, pockets everywhere!

My little one always needs pockets to carry her treasures, and her latest requests are skirts with pockets.

…So why not?

Here is another skirt for my little dancing fishy…

The skirt is worked entirely in the round from top down.  It begins with a provisional cast on, which is used to allow for a knitted on waistband. The skirt features some interesting cables, afterthought pocket and a twirly valance. This skirt is a must have for any little dancer!

Since children significantly vary in height, the skirt length is easily customizable.

Written and charted instructions for four different cable sets are included.
Cable Use recommendation:
Cable 1: sizes 1-3T and up
Cable 2: sizes 6-8 and up
Cable 3: sizes 9m to 4-5
Cable 4: sizes 4-5 and up

When choosing a size, please do not rely solely on age categories. Measure your child, and choose the appropriate size based on the actual waist measurement, and then knit to the length you desire.

Dia Merino DK from Colour Adventures    (100% merino; 211 m/231 yds in 100 g/3.53 oz);

Cloud DK from Colour Adventures (80% merino, 10% cashmere, 10% nylon; 234 m/256 yds in 113 g/4.0 oz.).

Traveller from Verdant Gryphon or Cephalopods Yarns (100% superwash wool; 280yds/256 m in 113g);

Gauge: 22 sts and 29 rows in 4 inches in stockinette stitch on 4 mm needles or size to obtain gauge.

Notions:

US #6/4.0 mm circular needles (40, 60 or 80 cm) or size to obtain gauge;

US #4/3.5 mm circular needles (60 cm);

3 mm crochet hook for provisional cast on (optional);

1 stitch marker in Color A to indicate the beginning of the round;

1 stitch marker in color B to indicate the short rows placement (optional);

2 stitch markers in color C to indicate the cable placement (optional);

½-¾ inch wide elastic band (actual length required = actual waist measurement – 2 inches);

Safety pin;

Cable needle;

Darning needle and sewing needle;
